Concentration Workspaces in the Hybrid Office Model

Concentration space refers to the dedicated areas where employees can work independently, away from distractions and interruptions in a hybrid environment.

Individual space is important because it allows employees to focus on their work and be more productive. It also provides a sense of privacy and control, which can help to reduce stress and improve mental health.

While most employees in a hybrid workplace model will have individual workspaces at a home office, employees still need to have a place to work quietly when they come into the workplace - some options include cubicles or shared workspaces.

Finding Adaptable Environments

Flexible workspace options include the concepts of hotdesking and hoteling to support this need for a concentration workspace while managing the overall physical space. These environments are designed to be adaptable to the needs of different employees and can provide individual space that is conducive to focus and productivity.

Individual space is an important element of the hybrid workplace and should be considered when designing and retrofitting office spaces. By providing employees with dedicated areas where they can work independently, companies support productivity and well-being.

Flexible Options for Individual Workspaces

A key challenge of the hybrid work model is providing individual office spaces that support both in-person and remote work. A traditional solution is to provide personal workstations for each employee - these workstations can be used by the employee when they are working in the office and can be equipped with the necessary technology and tools to support remote work. This allows each employee to have their own dedicated workspace, while still allowing for flexibility when it comes to in-person and remote work. However, this option for dedicated individual space requires more physical space.

Hotdesking vs. Hoteling

As mentioned, two concepts aligned with reimagining the individual workspace include hotdesking and hoteling. Both strategies provide flexible, unassigned workspaces in the office; however, there are some key differences between the two. Hotdesking involves providing a workspace that can be used by multiple employees on different days or at different times. This allows employees to use an in-person workspace when they need to, without having to reserve a specific desk in advance. Hoteling requires employees to reserve a desk or room at the workplace for a set period.

Enhance your Company's Flexibility

In order to create effective individual office spaces for the hybrid work model, it is important to provide flexibility and customization, so that employees can choose the workspace that works best for them, whether they are working in the office or remotely.
